Cultural places as spaces of innovation for sustainable and inclusive urban development
Introduction
The workshop aims to continue and restart the discussion on the potential of urban commons, in particular cultural heritage, as an enabling tool for the sustainable development of vulnerable neighborhood started with projects such as Co-Roma.it, OpenHeritage.eu and Cultura Futuro Urbano.
Details
Through the involvement of local communities and offering spaces, skills, tools and ideas for innovation aimed at sustainable development and the improvement of social and economic conditions of inhabitants and users in vulnerable neighborhoods. The key points that guide the projects mentioned are the following: the approach of Elinor Ostrom on the governance of common goods, the principle of solidarity and civic collaboration referred to in our Constitution in Article 2, Agenda 2030 on sustainable cities and communities (SDG11) and the recognition of heritage communities by the Council of Europe’s Beacon Convention, future generations (Art. 9 of the Constitution).
The project and its future development will be in line with the strategic objectives outlined both at Community and national level with a particular reference to Next Generation EU, the long-term budget 2021-2027 of the European Union and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan.

Objectives
Talking about new forms of public and private investment in urban and local innovation, mainly those driven by culture or that see the places of culture, schools and libraries as hubs of innovation.
In our view, these new forms of investment require a strong involvement of local communities and operators.
